Visit Cromer Museum and imagine what life in Cromer was like at the end of the 19th century
You can step inside a tiny fisherman’s cottage and look at colourful displays that showcase the town’s history as an early Victorian seaside resort. One of the museum’s highlights is a beautiful series of portrait photographs of North Norfolk fishermen which were taken by Olive Edis, Norfolk’s pioneering female photographer.
Cromer is situated in a geological area of great international importance. Find out more about this in the museum’s Geology Gallery with its fantastic collection of fossils. You can see the bones of the West Runton Mammoth here; this is Britain’s oldest and most complete elephant fossil ever to be found.
The museum’s programme of events includes many family activities, children’s art workshops, adult learning and a series of guided walks.
